Step 1. Where are your qualified funds now?

The steps necessary to open and fund your self-directed IRA vary depending on the type of account from which your qualified funds originate. Use the following information to determine which steps you need to take to get started.

Please note:
If you are not sure which type of account you have currently, a simple way to determine this is to see how the account is titled on a statement from the account’s administrator.
